In this chapter we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses in this product.
AXS™
AXS™ is SRAM's new integrated platform for connecting electronic bicycle components with software. The SRAM AXS™ app not only allows the rider to check the battery level, influence shifting behavior and configure the controls according to personal preferences, but also to create maintenance plans and update the firmware.
Carbon Tuned™
Strength and stiffness where you need it, light weight where you want it. The SRAM design with the exclusive carbon coating increases the thickness and rigidity in areas with particularly high loads. The tapered, stepped carbon architecture ensures maximum weight savings without sacrificing strength.
DUB™
The ratio of how the crankshaft and the bearings are dimensioned here is the core of the DUB™ technology. This is where rigidity and durability meet and complement each other. SRAM has simply thought a little further and made everything even easier - by better integrating all components such as the chainring, crank, crankshaft and bottom bracket. Only this approach, to see the drive as an overall system, enables better drive performance.
DZero™
Quarq's Dzero power meter platform is named after the "D0 Experiment" - one of the most accurate and innovative science projects to detect subatomic particles moving at the speed of light. With a new measurement circuit, a revised strain gauge (SG) design, improved accuracy throughout the crank revolution and the most advanced software, DZero represents the state of the art in power measurement technology.
Flattop™
SRAM has developed a narrower chain specifically for the X-Range™. The unique shape of the chain links in Flattop technology not only enables a larger gear range, it also ensures quieter chain operation, greater stability and improved durability.
Flow Link™
The chain's ultra-smooth inner plates are completely free of edges. This reduces the friction on the cassette and chainring. The result: low-noise performance and a longer service life for the components. Chain design allows for a slimmer profile. The chain is more torsion-resistant. Thanks to their smooth outer plates, the riveting is more even and the tensile strength is higher.
Orbit™
Orbit™ technology is an innovative and new way to control derailleur movement. It uses silicone fluid as part of a sleek and ultra-lightweight damping system. Compared to a traditional friction clutch system, Orbit Technology puts no additional drag on the derailleur spring during slow or light movements. This means easier shifting and simplified wheel removal. And while riding, the fluid damper reduces chain slap. That means bombproof reliability for 1x and 2x drives.
PowerLock
SRAM's chain engineers developed PowerLock as a tool-free, secure and consistent way to connect their chains. Although the PowerLock does not require any special tools for assembly, given the narrow tolerance range of a 10, 11 and 12-speed drivetrain, each PowerLock can only be used once.
XDR™
The XDR™ driver is a universal interface for cassettes with single sprockets under 11 teeth. This allows lighter and more versatile drives to be implemented without the need for a new rear hub standard, a change in the hub body or the cassette tool. The XDR™ interface is 1.85mm wider than XD™ and was developed for racing use. The XDR drivers are compatible with all XD cassettes as long as you install the cassette with a 1.85mm wide spacer.
X Range™
Road bikes are faster and more capable than ever before, and riders continue to show what road handlebar bikes are capable of. X-Range™ is the translation for the modern way of riding road bikes. SRAM has completely redesigned the road bike transmission, for more range of transmission, a more pleasant and better usable gear stepping and, thanks to AXS™, also smarter shift settings. With X-Range™ you are always in the right gear.
X Sync™
X-Sync™ 1x chainrings from SRAM ensure maximum performance and durability. Long SRAM X-Sync™ tooth edges engage the chain earlier than traditional triangular teeth. The sharp and narrow tooth profile as well as the rounded sloping edges support the chain guidance. In order to offer the best possible performance even in muddy terrain, the X-Sync™ chainrings have recesses for the inner chain links and rollers to evacuate dirt and debris. Made in Germany, X-Sync™ chainrings are an important part of SRAM's 1x™ drivetrain.
